GEORGE OTTO TREVELYAN (1838 - 1928) A nephew of Lord Macaulay, Trevelyan lived at Wallington Hall for over 40 years. He was elected as Liberal MP for Tynemouth in 1865 and held several important political offices. He also produced a number of literary works set in India, including Cawnpore (1865). The Ladies in Parliament (1869) contains his humorous writings, and Interludes in Prose and Verse appeared in 1905. Trevelyan also wrote notable works of history and biography, including The Life and Letters of Lord Macaulay (1876).
