JEAN MUIR (1928 - 1995)
The famous fashion designer (or dressmaker, as she put it) was renowned for her elegant variations on the 'little black dress'. Joanna Lumley was one of her models. Jean's home was Lorbottle Hall in Northumberland, an early 19th century house with the severe lines typical of its owner. At Jean's funeral, her friends all wore black, with white flowers only, by order of the deceased. Jean Muir is buried at St Bartholomew, Whittingham.
